The Bust Half was minted from 1794 to 1836. During this time, several different varieties were produced. The term "Small Letters" for the 1832 Bust Half refers to the size of the letters in the inscription on the coin. On this variety, the "50 C." for 50 cents, is noticeably smaller compared to the "Large Letters" variety of the same year. The Small Letters variety, minted from 1830 to 1835, is rarer and often more sought after by collectors.
