Minted 1875 to 1878
Designed by William Barber, this unusual Twenty Cent denomination was issued in silver for only 4 years, 1875 to 1878, and two of these years were Proof only. A large number of coins were melted by the mint before they were even released. Given the tiny mintages and early melting, this obsolete denomination is a scarce coin in all grades. The series was so short-lived primarily due to its physical similarity to the Seated Liberty Quarter. What a terrific series to collect by date, or add a coin to your Type Set. Choose a grade and price that work for your collection.
These are nice...designed well. I guess my only reservation would be "these coins are not examples of coins that were ever in circulation. For basic bullion rounds, is the price fair...or a bit overpriced?" Kind of hard to say. For one troy ounce of silver...it is probably fair.
