Minted from 1883 to 1912
The First year of issue, 1883, created quite a controversy, as the denomination "Five Cents" was not placed on the coin. Later in that year 1883, the coin was redesigned and the word –CENTS- was placed on the reverse so that the Nickel when gold-plated would not look so similar to a $5.00 Gold Coin.
Until 1912, all Liberty Nickels were struck at the Philadelphia Mint, but in that last year of the series, small quantities were also struck at Denver and San Francisco. This series has many dates that are affordable to acquire, with a few KEYS and semi-KEYS to add challenge to your goal. Start assembling a complete set, a date set, or choose the NO "CENTS" and a with "CENTS" variety for your Type Set.
Coin lived up to its description, beautiful.
Ordered this coin for my fiance's Godfather's 80th birthday. Wanted a coin from the year he was born. It was in uncirculated and perfect condition and was a HUGE hit with the recipient! Received it days after ordering! Terrific service, great quality!
Ordered two circulated Franklin half dollars to top off a ten dollar roll that was two coins short. There was a bit of delay in shipping so I inquired about the status. Order was shipped the next day and received shortly after. I was stunned to receive two gorgeous proof 1963 Franklins. Thanks for the upgrade Mt Vernon Coin!
I haven’t received my 2026 silver eagle yet. I’m sure it will be in BU condition. Have to say that delivery not so speedy
