The Franklin Half silver series is unusual in that it celebrates an American citizen who was not a U.S. president. Minted from 1948 to 1963, this completed silver series is a fitting tribute to Benjamin Franklin, perhaps the greatest statesman of the colonial times in America. Although first struck in 1948, proof issues were struck at the Philadelphia mint only from 1950 to 1963. We offer all dates and mintmarks, and Gem Proof examples, as well.
