Minted 1878 to 1921
The Morgan silver dollar, first issued in 1878, is arguably the most popular of all American coins. It has so much going for it: it is a large silver coin, it has a great number of varieties, it has a long history, and it was struck at almost all of the U.S. mints during its history (Philadelphia, Carson City, Denver, New Orleans and San Francisco). Minting was suspended after the 1904, and resumed for one year only ... 1921. In this final year, Morgan Dollars were struck at the Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Denver mint. This was the first time ... and last time ... that Morgan Silver Dollars were struck at the Denver Mint. Consider putting together a date set, or try the more challenging set of 13 Carson City issues; or assemble the entire set and upgrade as your budget permits.
